Class Descriptions
All yoga classes are excellent for improving health, deepening sleep, reducing stress, and improving awareness, concentration, and self-esteem. Most classes are suitable
for students of all levels.*

Classical Yoga: True to the 4000-year-old tradition of yoga, Classical yoga applies postures, breathing exercises, philosophy, relaxation, and meditation to cultivate wellbeing.

Classical "Light" Yoga:
An opportunity for you to learn basic principles of breathing and yoga poses in a relaxed atmosphere. There is no pressure to achieve the impossible – only encouragement to improve your range of motion and expand yourself spiritually.

Kids' Yoga: In this class, children between the ages of 4 and 10 enjoy making friends during group chats and partner poses. Through the use of yoga poses, songs, stories, and games, they practice accepting themselves and each other. They learn beginning concepts of proper breathing and mental focus.

Sivananda Yoga: Based on the Five Points of Yoga: Proper Exercise, Proper Breathing, Proper Relaxation, Proper Diet, and Positive Thinking/Meditaiton. Experience variations of the set sequence of poses, explore healthful breathing techniques, mantra, and meditation.

Yin Yoga: Explore new depths of physical health and fliexibility through long-held poses and this deep tissue release. Suitable for all levels of experience. Students describe the experience as an inner massage.

Yang-Style Classical Yoga: Enjoy a warmer, energizing practice of Classical Yoga incorporating
flowing sequences and strengethening poses. This class is
not recommended for those with chronic health issues such as blood
pressure issues, certain joint problems, and other concerns around
exercise. Please consult your medical practitioner and your yoga teacher
to inquire about whether this class may be suitable for you.

Meditation: Based on YogaLife's Meditation for Your Type Program, this class is an opportunity to practice meditation with a like-minded, relaxed group. Meditation class builds on what you already practice in every Welkin YogaLife yoga class.

Yoga Therapy: Explore the healing benefits of Classical Yoga. Practices are drawn from the Welkin YogaLife Yoga Therapy program and include joint, gland, organ, muscular, digestive, sensory (eyes, pain, etc.), mental, and emotional healing. Recommended for people with these concerns as well as chronic
injuries, joint issues, cancer recovery, and fibromyalgia. Excellent for
students seeking a soothing pace.

Nia: "The Joy of Movement", Nia is designed for any body. It is ageless and limitless, transformational and effective for every person everywhere: from athletes, dancers and fitness instructors, to children, special needs groups and the elderly. With the philosophy Through Movement We Find Health, Nia addresses the whole person through music and movement integrated from nine traditional movement forms.

Drum Circle:
Enjoy the space to beat out your own rhythm. The drums will find their own free sound. This is an opportunity for people to play without fear of judgement, while sharing the pulse of others' rhythm. Some percussion instruments will be available for those who don't have their own but wish to participate.
*Please consult your professional health care/medical practitioner before beginning any exercise routine.
Yoga classes take place at 45 Dalkeith Drive, Unit 13 in Brantford.
