Yoga is an ancient practice designed to cultivate physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. “ Yoga ” involves physical postures, breathing exercises, yoga philosophy, and meditation/concentration activities. There are many different paths of yoga. Each of us has individual needs and goals. At Welkin Wellness Centre, you are encouraged to experience yoga in your own way while practicing with the support of a community.

The Sanskrit word yoga means “union” or “yoking”. Its many components serve the purpose of uniting our bodies with our minds and spirits. We yoke our personalities to our thoughts and true selves. The postures, breathing exercises, and meditations of yoga were designed over 4000 years ago in India and are still useful today as a system of creating balance and wholeness in our lives. Yoga practices detoxify the body, helping to heal disease and prevent future illness. Improved physical health improves concentration and memory while soothing emotions. Yoga teaches you how to relax and focus on the goodness of life as each precious moment passes. Yoga is a path to unity and joy.
