Candlelight Yin Yoga
Instructor: Kristin

I like to look at yin class time as a special opportunity for the student to completely relax their body and mind. Yin yoga allows for deep tissue release, and also offers quiet time for reflection and deep meditation. The longer held poses help the student tune into their quiet center, and connect with their true selves. I find that students really adore yin yoga, and the deep breathing that the poses encourage.

Instructor Jake Mann offers students gentle poses which allows people to feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire class. This is a great opportunity for beginners to learn the basic principles of breathing and yoga poses in a relaxed atmosphere.

Classical Yoga
Instructor: Kristin

True to 5000-year-old tradition, Classical yoga applies postures, breathwork, philosophy, relaxation, and meditation to cultivate wellbeing.

Were we to imagine the traditions and styles of yoga as a tree - growing from strong roots and sprouting many branches, Classical Yoga (along with Hatha Yoga) would be the trunk of that tree. Classical Yoga offers a comprehensive approach to the practice of yoga. The Classical approach to yoga offers something for people of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds. It is clearly understood that "yoga", in the Classical approach, is not about how a posture looks on the outside; rather, it is a process of discovering a means to what is comforting and healthy for one's own self. Treasuring what the body is able to do, no matter how limited or free, is one of many Classical components.

Classical Yoga is excellent for newer students, those nursing injuries, or who experience limited mobility. It offers an opportunity for you to learn basic principles of breathing and yoga poses in a relaxed atmosphere. There is no pressure to achieve the impossible – only encouragement to improve your range of motion and expand yourself spiritually.

"Yoga class has benefit me very well; [I have] fewer back problems. I like the relaxing atmosphere and that you do your own thing. You don't have to be the best or perfect. Every time it's great and I get a message from [the Instructor]. I try to breathe well in nervous situations and take life easier during stress." ~Henny V.

Meditation
Instructor: Erin

Based on YogaLife's Meditation for Your Type Program, this class is an opportunity to practice meditation with a like-minded, relaxed group. Meditation class builds on what you already practice in every Welkin YogaLife yoga class.

Meditation, to those who practice, is experienced simply. Yoga teaches that through commitment to stilling the mind through concentration, consciousness shifts into a meditative state. This state is characterized by a sense of well-being and clear, higher thought. Brainwaves move from beta to alpha or even theta waves which indicates a deep internal calm. Regular practice of meditation gradually shifts our relationship to stress, our loved ones, and the outer world. When we meditate regularly, we approach life from a place of inner peace.

*This is a closed program – pre-registration is required.
